Ronna Lerner

We are saddened by the loss of our longtime core faculty member and cherished colleague. Ronna passed away on April 15.

Ronna’s family has requested that donations in her memory be sent to our center to support an Annual Lecture Series on Children and Families in her name.


Ronna Lerner, LCSW, a CCFH core faculty member, specializes in the concerns and developmental issues of children and their families. She has taught the course, “Intervention With Children and Their Families” and led a supervision group in the Family Therapy certificate program. For many years she taught and supervised family systems therapy at the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration and at the Departments of Child and Adult Psychiatry, University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Ms. Lerner is a licensed clinical social worker and a member of the American Family Therapy Academy.

In Hyde Park, Ms. Lerner has a private practice of psychotherapy with individuals, couples, and families. Areas of specialty include a relational perspective to life cycle issues of families and unmarried adults; families with symptomatic children; divorce; remarriage; stepfamilies; parenting strategies; and women’s issues. In addition to her social work degree, Ms. Lerner has studied at The Jean Baker Miller Training Institute at the Stone Center, Wellesley College, and has a degree in elementary school education.
